DCU Membership
For creators who want a fair share of the value they generate.
Membership is not a rights transfer.
Membership does not automatically transfer rights to DCU or guarantee a licence deal, payment or legal representation. Any rights or authority given to DCU will be set out in a separate member mandate. Members should only submit content and rights they own or are authorised to licence.
Membership is open to digital creators.
DCU membership is open to all digital creators based in or operating from the UK, including:

We’re currently inviting founding members to help shape DCU. Your membership is free for the first year.

- Have a say in our early priorities and governance.
- Be among the first to participate if DCU secures licence income and an approved distribution policy applies.
- If you choose to proceed, register 5-10 pieces of work under a separate Creator Contribution Licence mandate.
- Choose whether your participation is acknowledged publicly or kept anonymous, subject to your consent.
One clear application, followed by human approval.
Choose the category that best describes your work, submit only the details needed to administer membership, and receive a digital member card only after your application has been reviewed and accepted. A card confirms DCU membership; it does not transfer rights, guarantee payment or represent trade-union registration.

Founding members will help shape DCU’s early policy, licensing and advocacy priorities for the AI economy; including consent, credit, compensation, voice, image, data and digital-replica issues.
A fair, transparent model.
After the founding period, we expect membership to operate on a sliding-scale fee of around £5-£20 per month, with reductions for low-income creators.
Proposed creator-share target
A proposed target of around 80% of net licence revenue returned to eligible creators, subject to an approved policy and actual licence income.
Operations and advocacy
A proposed target of around 20% for operations, legal work and advocacy; the final policy is not yet approved. Exact details will be decided with founding members.
A private space for members.
DCU intends to provide a private community space for discussions, campaigns and mutual support. For now, we’re exploring an initial community channel for founding members.
