Privacy before participation.
How DCU will approach personal information and member mandates before its formal launch.
This page requires formal review.
Digital Creators Union is currently an England-and-Wales unincorporated association preparing for member adoption. This notice is a transparent pre-launch framework, not a completed legal privacy notice. DCU will confirm its controller details, lawful bases, processors, retention periods and contact process before collecting membership or mandate data for operational use.
What the current website does
The static website’s demo forms prevent normal submission and display a local confirmation message. They are not connected to a membership database. Do not submit confidential material, rights information, payment details or sensitive personal data through the preview forms.
What DCU expects to process later
Subject to a final notice and lawful basis, DCU may process member identity and contact details, creator category, platform information, mandate information, licensing records, payment information and communications needed to administer membership and authorised licensing activity.
Rights and permissions
Membership will not automatically transfer rights to DCU. Members may authorise DCU only through a separate written mandate and only for rights they own, control or are legally authorised to grant. Personal data is not treated as property that DCU can automatically sell or licence.
Documents still required before launch
- Final privacy notice and controller details.
- Lawful-basis assessment and retention schedule.
- Data-breach, access and deletion procedures.
- Processor and international-transfer records.
- Separate solicitor-reviewed member mandate and licence agreement.
- Approved membership, complaints, community and distribution policies.
